I bought a 1979 BOSS OD-1. The power supply seems different from current ones, so I can't test the sound. What should I do?

The BOSS OD-1 manufactured in 1979 has different power specifications compared to current effects pedals. The OD-1 from this era uses an "ACA" type AC adapter specification (which supplies a voltage higher than 9V and drops it using internal resistance), so if you use a current "PSA" adapter or a standard 9V center-negative power supply as-is, the LED will be dim or it will not operate properly. Solutions include: 1) using a 9V rectangular alkaline battery, 2) using an older power supply compatible with ACA or a dedicated adapter, or 3) using a "daisy chain connection" (a method of linking multiple pedals for power supply) to make it work properly with a current PSA power supply. It is recommended to first insert a 9V battery to check its operation.
