Could you tell me about the sound differences in BOSS OD-1 across different eras due to the op-amps? Is the Raytheon one really the best?
Everyone has different preferences for sound, but if you want to recreate that exact tone from back then, Raytheon's early op-amp OD-1 is the best. When played through a Marshall amplifier, I think you'll be moved and exclaim, "Ah! That's the sound!" By the way, the early models, including those with Raytheon chips, use quad op-amps, while from the 1980s onwards, they switched to dual op-amps. They are becoming expensive nowadays, but personally, I strongly recommend the Raytheon-made op-amp OD-1.
